GDPC

The Genomic Diversity and Phenotype Connection (GDPC) is a middleware database interface that provides access to integrated data on genomic diversity in a standard format. GDPC consists of three major pieces:

  • Behind-the-scenes connections to databases
  • The GDPC Java API (Application Programming Interface), middleware that allows software to directly connect to databases and retrieve data. The GDPC API can access databases and retrieve data in a standard format. This eliminates both the need for the user to manually export and import the data and the loss of data that can result from such importing and exporting.
  • The GDPC Browser, which serves as a front end for the user. The Browser makes use of the GDPC Java API to retrieve and display data for the user.

The GDPC Browser simplifies access to genomic diversity and phenotype data for researchers by retrieving data for analysis from one or more data sources. You may download a copy of the browser to your computer by clicking the link below. This version will automatically connect to the Panzea database.

A tutorial (view or download) is available that demonstrates how to use the GDPC Browser by walking you through a usage example. If you experience trouble starting the application on your computer, please find instructions and trouble-shooting information at http://www.maizegenetics.net/gdpc/browser/browser_index.html.

If you would like more detailed information about the GDPC software, including the GDPC Browser, please go to the GDPC home page at http://www.maizegenetics.net/gdpc/index.html.
